N255M car scam: Dino Melaye and the National Assembly must shut-up!

Written by Adoyi Ali

The very popular assertion that “he that goes to equity, must go with clean hands" must always be upheld by all genuine citizens of this great country, principally, with regards to the ongoing storm trailing the acquisition of 2 armoured vehicles for the Aviation Minister, by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.

It's true that certain issues must be questioned, and certain incongruities be addressed on a national scale so we can have sanity restored to our ever flagging corrupt country, but it's equally true that only rational people with clean hands are expected to preside over such issues. It will be out of place to have an armed robber tied to stake for another armed robber to prosecute or have a prostitute as judge over other prostitutes. In as much as such situation will be side-splitting, it further ridicules the presiding robber and the prostitute. This is what Dino and our lawmakers are doing. Today, Dino is 'blabbing'. He is picketing on the Aviation office, he is mobilising and campaigning for the sack of Stella, because he feels the Minister compelled the NCAA to get her the 2 controversial cars, but has forgotten his statement few days ago, when he said he owns similar cars which he acquired at N96M. Additionally, the memory of his ‘cow-boy show’ at the Green Chambers still remains fresh; consequently, his suspension from the National Assembly makes him a total outcast and an ignoble member so to speak.

Relatively, Dino’s bicycle-ride to the AIT’s headquarters, Paduma Hills in Asokoro, Abuja in pretext of his support for the poor masses, downtrodden and the oppressed; when he has two armoured vehicles and other expensive cars parked at the backyard of his house is only but a sham. He should go and bury his head in shame.

Dino's constituency was deserted completed when he represented them few years ago. He never did anything for his people, and was at the verge of being recalled before another election pushed him away from the said position. It's only in Nigeria that a corrupt officer will rise against another person suspected to be corrupt. The truth is that Dino is fighting a just course, but are his hands clean? How can you have unwashed hands and eat with an elder? Where did he make N96M from in the first place? N96M thrown away just for some bullet-proof cars! Is that not tax payer's money? Dino has a question to answer. He needs to apologise to his people for having impoverished them while representing them. He needs to explain how he got such money to acquire armoured vehicles. His source of wealth must be investigated as soon as possible. Public officers must stop stealing our money-our sweat.

The Honourable members, with due respect must also shut their mouths on this matter as they have already thrown their nobility and credibility to the wind.  Unless the Otedola/ Faroukgate scandal is addressed openly to its logical conclusion, we will continue to disregard some of their positions on national issues. The lawmakers have not only ‘blindfolded’ Nigerians into believing that Farouk/Otedola’s case is currently been handled by a competent court of law, but have quietly killed the case. How powerful is the diminutive Farouk Lawan that he cannot even be suspended by his fellow members pending court decision? Why did the House of Reps members take to their heels when Otedola requested media presence in his testimony on what transpired between him and Farouk? Of course, they couldn’t go to equity, because they have got some stained hands.  What’s so difficult about coming out clean on Farouk’s matter? Surely, there was a give and take. Something was exchange for something; yet, the two principal actors in the case continue to walk head and shoulder-high with no question. Why should Farouk Lawan be allowed to deliberate on corrupt related matters? It can only happen in Nigeria. Today, we are totally swayed by emotion regarding the ongoing Aviation saga, forgetting that the same bullet-proof cars are owned by other Ministers. Have we even asked questions on how other Ministers and Senators got theirs? Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has two of the said vehicles. How much did she buy hers? We are spending more time talking on just N255M when billions are been siphoned every day. We can only blackmail as Nigerians because we have interest in a position, but we can’t really fight a course to a logical conclusion. Too bad for us!  Prices of the vehicles may have been inflated, but it’s really not worth the uproar. Don’t get it wrong; my intention is not to defend the Aviation Minister, but who knows if she was even involved in the actual transaction. The Minister may not have been involved in the negotiation. The issues really is not because the Minister acquired an armoured vehicle, the issue should rather be what we suspect must have been inflated. The X or Y amount must be refunded as soon as possible. From the Minister’s explanation, chains of people were involved in the transaction. We need to investigate the actual price of the vehicle, and request for a refund, instead of wasting time over ‘due process’. If there was due process in Nigeria, we wouldn’t have had some people in government today, because in the first place, due process was not followed before they speedily climbed to the top. If we had follow due process, it would have been very easy for brilliant people to succeed in this country; but the reverse is the case. They are currently walking aimlessly on the streets looking for three square meals.

Nigerians are mostly wired to think meticulously. We like to join the crowd. We tend to disregard our problems when discussing other people's issues on the peripheral. We will talk and make so much initial ‘gragra’ that we all inherited from our Yoruba friends and brothers, then we let that fly with the wave as soon as another subject comes up. Some of us survive on tittle-tattle. It is sad. I still reiterate that, ‘’ he that must go to equity, must go with clean hands.’’

Wizkid Abuja Inversion: Yankee clears rumour of low turnout, says he sold over 27 tables of eight (PHOTOS)

Yankee entertainment, the organizer of the recently held wizkid "Abuja Invasion show" has swiftly reacted to media reports that the show which it put together for Abuja show patrons failed.

The renowned event Manager and Ceo, Yankee Entertainment, Malam kehinde Adegbite, AKA Mr. Yankee debunked the rumour in a chat with DailyPost correspondent.

In his reaction, Yankee said that though fans started arriving at the International Conference centre a little late, it was not true that seats were empty as earlier reported. He said almost all the sections of the ICC were filled, and Wizkid was not in any way disappointed as reported.

Yankee vehemently asserted that the pictures used by some reporters in their stories were actually taken at the earliest part of the show when fans were just arriving, affirming that the report was sponsored by mischief makers, whose interest is to see him disappointing Abuja show lovers.  He said, "I'm sure those journalists did not even stay till the end of the show. The show was "very very" successful. I really don't bother myself about what some people feel or want to say about my event, so long as our business continues to prosper and we keep smiling to the banks. I want to tell you that Wizkid was happy with the turnout, the fans enjoyed the show, they had fun and have confessed to that. They are ever ready to have Wizkid in Abuja again.
Speaking further, Yankee said “those pictures were actually taken by some journalists who had access to the hall before the take-off of the show. I didn't know they were out to blackmail us. I didn't even know how they had access to the conference hall. But I'm not in any way bothered."
He disclosed that over 27 tables were sold at the event, and that a table of 8 was given out between N300, 000 to N500,000. He listed heavy weights who were at the show to include " CEO, Kefiano motors; Timi Frank, PA to Atiku Abubakar; MD, Exclusive Stores, MD, Sungold Estate; Jude Imagwe, SSA to Jonathan on Youths and Students Matters;
Mr Jide Asuma, former Director of Silverbird Cinema; Tucano club, club Stormm, FCMB, Mr Danjuma, former local govt of Kuje; Suleiman Ibro, Summerset owner, All clubs in Abuja, Danar Air and a host of others. Yankee said the list is endless, and that he cannot be deterred by those he termed, 'badbelle'.
DailyPost had earlier gotten some reactions from individuals who attended the show and were of the view that the show failed as backed by the photos they took at the event. However, Yankee has said that those individuals were either sponsored or had personal issues with the organizers, affirming that such cannot be settled through blackmail.

Edward Smith, Man Who Has Had Sex With 999 Cars, Now Commits To VW Beetle (VIDEO)

For the past 48 years, out of the 1000 sex he’s had, only one was with a human being, as 999 of his sex partners were cars, planes and trains.

Smith, 63, is a "mechaphile," the term for someone sexually attracted to planes, trains and automobiles.

His latest decision however is to be dedicated to his old Beetle acquired 30 years ago. The Beetle’s name is Vanilla. Edward is mostly in love with the front and back of cars as against getting attracted to boobs and bums of beautiful women.

This is what he said, "When I hold Vanilla in my arms there's a powerful energy that comes from her in response to that," he said in an interview with Barcroft TV. "If anything was to happen to her I would be more than heartbroken."

Smith isn't completely shifting into monogamy. He says he also has flings with a 1973 Opel GT named "Cinnamon," and a 1993 Ford Ranger by the name of "Splash," according to Oddity Central.

"Mechaphilia" is a unique fetish, but Smith claims he's not alone in his intense love of machinery. He estimates there are at least 500 guys in the world also keyed into sex with cars, according to Time.com.

Watch video here..
"When I turned 13 and the famous Corvette Stingray came about, that car was pure sex and just an incredible machine. I wanted it," he told the Telegraph. "I didn't fully understand it myself except that I know I'm not hurting anyone and I do not intend to."

ALUU FOUR: Monarch, three others get N2m bail

Alhaji Hassan Welewa, the paramount ruler of Aluu community in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, yesterday got a moment of respite as Justice Letam Nyordee of a Rivers State High Court granted him N2million bail, alongside others to include; Okoghiroh Endurance, Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Evans Samuel. The aforementioned are the ninth of 12th accused persons in the trial of the ongoing trial of the suspected killers of the four students of University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) who were lynched in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Ugonna Obuzor, 18 (Geology), Lloyd Toku Mike, 19 (Civil Engineering), Chiadika Biringa, 20 (Theatre Art), and Tekena Elkannah, 20 (Mechanical Engineering) were brutally murdered and their bodies burnt by some angry mob in Umokiri community, Port Harcourt on October 5, 2012.

The ninth of the 12th accused persons granted bail were charged for felony as they had the capacity to stop the crime, but failed to do so.

Justice Nyordee granted them bail in the sum of N2 million and two sureties each, who are expected to present evidence of tax payment for the last two years.

The sureties must be owners of landed property within the jurisdiction of the court and must tender the original copy of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to the court. Four copies of their most recent passport photographs and a sworn affidavit of means must equally be tendered to the court.

In his bail pronouncement, the Judge reflected over the case, asserting that while accused persons one to eight were charged with murder in the case, accused persons nine to 12 were charged with felony to prevent murder, justifying that the offence of the ninth to 12th accused persons was bailable.

Justice Nyordee said; “The offence for which the ninth – 12th suspects were charged provides two years imprisonment if convicted.

“Bail is a legal right of anybody standing criminal charge trial, if it is applied for.

“It is not to grant him/her total liberty, but a temporal liberty to enable him prepare for his trial.

“That does not, however, mean that every application for bail of a person under-going criminal trial must be granted as it were.

“The offence which the ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th accused persons are charged is not capital in nature and ordinarily bailable, while that of the 1st to 8th accused persons are capital offence and ordinarily, not bailable, unless the judge takes into consideration certain factors which include health conditions, among others, to exercise his/her discretion to grant bail.

“The case of murder, which the first eight accused persons are charged with, is capital and serious in nature and, as the result, no bail will be granted to them. However, bail is granted to the ninth-12th

Retired Sergeant Lucky Orji and seven others, including Ikechukwu Louis Amadi (aka Kapoon), David Chinasa Ogbada, Abiodun Yusuf (16), Joshua Ekpe and Abang Cyril, were charged with murder, hence the judge confirmed that their offence was not bailable.

Meanwhile, the youtube video of the incident was played on a large projector in the court yesterday by the prosecuting counsels, raising the emotions of different individuals in court, including the parents of the four late students.

However, Counsel to the second accused (Lucky Orji), Emmanuel John had argued that the video was not necessary as an exhibit since it was a youtube downloaded version, and that the witness was not the author of the video.

Church blasts Rihanna, Miley for provocative videos

Add Charlotte Church to the ever-growing list of critics who disapprove of Rihanna and Miley Cyrus' provocative ways.

While speaking at BBC 6 Music's annual John Peel Lecture, the Welsh singer took aim at the "male-dominated" music business which, she claims, has a "culture of demeaning women," according to published reports.

"What this industry seems to want of its women increasingly is sex objects that appear childlike. 'Take your clothes off, show you're an adult,'" the 27-year-old beauty said at the Radio Festival in Salford.
"The irony behind this is that the women generally filling these roles are very young, often previous child stars or Disney tweens, who are simply interested in getting along in an industry glamourized to be the most desirable career for young women," Church explained.
NEWS: Sinead O'Connor also took aim at Miley Cyrus
.
"The Flower Duet" singer—who first rose to fame in childhood as a classical singer before branching out on to the pop music scene in 2005—said females in the music biz "are encouraged to present themselves as hyper-sexualized, unrealistic, cartoonish, as objects, reducing female sexuality to a prize you can win," before recounting her own experience with feeling oversexualized in the industry.
"There was a big clamor to cover my breasts as they wanted to keep me as young as possible," she confessed. "Then it became, 'You should definitely get them out, they look great.'"
And she claimed the provocative image she was encouraged to adopt still has a negative impact on her career today.
"Whilst I can't defer all the blame away from myself, I was barely out of my teenage years, and the consequence of this portrayal of me is that now I am frequently abused on social media," she admitted. "Now I find it difficult to promote my music where it would be best suited."
NEWS: Rihanna slams a reporter who calls her a toxic role model
Addressing Rihanna's latest music video, "Pour It Up," in which the sexy singer poses as a stripper, Church said: "You only have to look at the online response to see that it is only a matter of time until the public turns on an artist for pushing it too far. But the single, like all Rihanna's other provocative hits, will make her male writers, producers and record label guys a ton of money."
Church also called upon BBC Radio to take responsibility for the artists the channel promotes, and she expressed her support for an age-rating system for music videos after witnessing numerous stars strip down for the sake of YouTube hits.
"BBC Radio is notorious for misreading sexual metaphor and innuendo as innocent," she said. "But more recently, there doesn't seem to be a decency barrier at all."

Miley Cyrus, Wrecking Ball RCA Records
She added: "If there are no sanctions put upon music that is written so zealously about genitalia, or uses soft porn in its promotion online, what is to stop artists feeling that making their music and videos more sexy will undoubtedly drive up their online views and subsequently encourage more radio play?"
Church concluded by noting that oversexualization of females in the music industry has become the norm, not the exception.
"The culture of demeaning women in pop music is so ingrained as to become routine, from the way we are dealt with by management and labels, to the way we are presented to the public."

Madonna University Alumni Association (MUAA) Launches Magazine, Awards Deserving Members + The Public, Says Madonna University is the Best and Most Affordable Private University in Nigeria.

All is now set for the second edition of the Madonna University Alumni Association, MUAA’s awards ceremony which has been scheduled to hold in Abuja.

The event tagged, "MUAA Awards 2013/MUAA Magazine Launch" and slated for October 12, at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel Abuja is the first of its kind since the inception of the Association.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, the National President of the Association, Mr Chima Achu, said some members of the Association who have contributed towards its growth as well as other outstanding members who deserve commendation in various fields of endeavours will be honoured at the event.

Others to be honoured are members of the public who have also contributed remarkably to the growth of the nation’s economy, irrespective of their fields.

Mr Achu further disclosed that the award will be based on an initial criteria set by the Association to evaluate performances of the awardees,  adding that the awards will be based on merit, as the Association will not allow any form of inducement as it’s the case in most awards in Africa.

The President had further divulged that the maiden edition of the Association's magazine, MUAA Magazine, shall be officially unveiled and launched during the event. He said that coming up with a maiden edition of MAUU Magazine was a tremendous achievement and a dream accomplished by the executives and other members of the Association.

He said, “The magazine will celebrate excellence, hard-work and successes of our members. It will also showcase efforts by the National Executive Committee and various chapters in advancing the course of the vibrant Association. People can say it’s an ordinary magazine, but it is something we have been working hard to achieve. For years, we have tried to get this done. This is because it is one masterpiece that will unite the activities of our members globally.
‘’With over 23,000 members worldwide and with our Headquarters in London, United Kingdom, we have so much to celebrate.’’ He added.
Meanwhile, prominent Nigerians who will be honoured at the event include; former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezife who will be receiving a life time achievement award; former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Akin Olujimi will be receiving a Public Service Award, DG of Institute of Leadership Training, Mr. Afowori will be honoured as well.

According to the President, event’s Red Carpet will open by 3pm, while the main event shall follow suit.

Speaking on the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, the Association President said, the issue of decay in the educational system is something that has happened systematically over a period of time. He said it was a known fact that budgetary allocation to education in the last 25 years has been quite less than the standard set by the United Nations, hence ‘’ you don’t expect this current administration to mop up those lapses just instantly. It will take time to get this done, as it requires systematic approach.’’
He also stressed on the need to declare an emergency in the educational sector in order to bail it out of the lapses of several years.  He however appealed to ASUU to sheathe its sword and reopen the nation’s universities. ‘’It’s imperative to note that dialogue remains the better option; hence they should go back to classes, while dialogue continues. Asking the Federal Government to cough out almost 3 trillion naira as a last option is a wild goose chase and totally unrealistic. The amount is equivalent to a nation’s total budget and not realistic at all’’ He said.
Debunking the erroneous belief that Madonna University is expensive, and not affordable, Achu said, ‘’ I must tell you that Madonna University remains the cheapest of Nigerian Private Universities. Madonna University’s fee is not even up to half a million. If compared to other Universities fees that remain above one million naira per session, it is crystal clear that the school is very considerate even with the quality of education it delivers. You need to pay to get quality. Madonna University is the best private University in Nigeria and to have its fees below half a million is commendable. You don’t expect the school to hire Professors both within and outside Nigeria, and they won’t take care of them.’’
Speaking on the school’s stringent disciplinary actions against Madonna University students which most of the students appear not to be comfortable with, the President said that the school governing council had provided basic rules, which he said were not stringent enough compared to other universities, therefore any student who signs under those rules and accepts to study in the school must continue to obey the rules.  He said ‘’during admission, you are meant to go through the school’s rules and sign that you will abide by them. There were no such rules when we were in the University in those days, but because the school was a little liberal, students abused the opportunity, and different cult groups emerged. In order to keep the good image of the school, and as a Catholic school, it had to put in place some basic rules which I believe is working. Now, all students are meant to live on camp, and if you are to leave the school any time, you must state the reason why you are leaving. We have military men and mobile police everywhere in the school just to ensure that the University’s rules are kept.’’
On quality of graduates, the Association President said Madonna University has received commendations from different organizations for producing the best hands into the Nigerian job markets, citing examples to include the CEO of African Achiever Award whom he said was a product of Madonna University. He said Zenith bank has equally sent a commendation letter to the school for their products. ‘’ Definitely, Madonna University is one of the best Universities in Nigeria’’

Meanwhile, speaking on the second edition of the Madonna University Alumni Association, MUAA’s awards ceremony which has been scheduled to hold in Abuja, the President said the event is tagged, "MUAA Awards 2013/MUAA Magazine Launch" and slated for October 12, at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel Abuja. He said the 2013 edition is the first of its kind since the inception of the Association.
He disclosed further that some members of the Association who have contributed towards its growth as well as other outstanding members who deserve commendation in various fields of endeavours will be honoured at the event.

Charlyboy Writes His Obituary, Asks People To Write Theirs (Read his Obituary here)

He titles this one ‘’My Obituary’’.

...His line of thought in this ‘out of the world' article vividly captures everyman’s essence in this world. He asks the pertinent question of living forever by writing one’s name in the sand of time.  He reflects over the absurdity of life, using his late cousin, Emeka as a cynosure of his views.   Read on please

Right about now, some of the readers will question the sense in capturing and casting this type of crazy captions for my articles. I only write for those who are patient enough to understand the creative beauty of my mind. I write for those who have depth enough to see beyond what they see, those who have a discerning mind.

However, if your curiosity has gotten the better of you, then read on.

I am about to take up a subject no one really wants any part of, but that's alright, this is where our imagination runs amock. For a brief second, imagine this: if your life were to end today, what would your obituary read? Come on; don't get frightened, thinking about your obituary will not kill you.

Nothing escapes the Creator's cycle; not plants, not animals, nor human beings. All living things emerge, gather, spark new life, fall apart and die.

The purpose of all of this is not to scare you about death which is inevitable, but to expose you to a new information or rather, share a certain mindset with you that may help you live with humility and aliveness that only an acceptance of death can release.

'My Obituary' is meant to prick your mind to start being fully conscious of the moments you are alive.

Every moment of our lives, we are knowingly or unknowingly writing a line for our obituary. Every action or inaction provides memories of us to those we eventually leave behind; they are the memories that the people we love and leave behind will want to include in the telling of our life's story.

Within the first quarter of this year, I lost a good friend and cousin, Mr. Emeka Aseme to kidnappers; he was butchered and killed in cold blood. My whole village was not only scandalised by the senseless killing but till today, the 'Blue Lake City' of Oguta has lost the shine it had as a city of bubbling happy go lucky people.

Emeka was a good man who provided employment for hundreds of Oguta people, he was sociable, liked by all and sundry (or so we thought). Even though Oguta had a lot of industrious sons and daughters, Emeka's legacies stand out. He cared about his people, he gave a helping hand, he was sensitive to people's conditions.

Now that he's no more, all we have to say of him (his obituary) are his good deeds, what he contributed to the betterment of his fellow man, especially his kinsmen.

What would yours read like, now that all you know is 'Me, Myself & I'?

What legacy are you living today, is it different from the one you will want to leave behind?

Some people live as if they will be here forever, not giving a hoot about what happens to the next person. If its not their immediate personal/family gratification, it does not concern them.

Mind you, I'm not saying you should not care about your welfare and that of your family o (if you know the AreaFada well you will know that my family remains my ROCK).

However, I still make an ample proportion of my time to fighting the course of our youth and being the Voice of the Voiceless. And this gives me joy and fulfilment. For me, it is what keeps blood flowing in my veins, puts the sparkle in my eyes and springs in my steps...despite the unfavourableness of the terrain. Wetin man go do?

You are the author of your own Obituary, so tell me. Are you writing a history of misery, or a tale of tenacity. Were you inclusive and supportive? Or were you exclusively out for yourself alone, you selfish bloke. Did you lift others up, or did you allow them to knock you down? Did you stay down long enough to recover, or did you stay down complaining and winning. What will your Obituary say about the way you treated people and how you made them feel about themselves. Most importantly what will your Obituary say about how you treated yourself. What will be said about your attitude, how you handled yourself in crisis. Perhaps now is the time to consider how you are living and what you want to be said about you when you are not. Your life provides the content of your Obituary, so my guy, check yourself and park well.

For me, I came I saw, I did it my way , had fun and boned everyone who thought it wasn't possible. that's my Obituary. I'm still here though, for the longer haul!
