Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary Gets Better For The Nigerian Child as World-class Crèche And Pre-school Opens In Abuja On Tuesday

With the fallen standard of education in Nigeria, different private individuals are making relentlessly efforts towards ensuring that the nation’s educational sector is revived and becomes fully operational. This is why a world class Crèche and Preschool centre recently completed in Abuja will be unveiled on the nation’s 53rd independence anniversary.

The school is located in one of the highbrow areas in Abuja, the Federal capital Territory and its completion is the talk of the town.  The comfortable learning atmosphere created and the news its completion had generated in Abuja since the past few weeks prompted some journalists to visit and make a ‘meal’ out of it.  Located in Garki area of the FCT, the school has all the modern facilities that call for people’s attention when driving past.

Speaking to some group of journalists that visited the school upon enquiry whether the school is affordable for average Abuja residents, the administrators  had affirmed that the school was actually meant for hard-working average Nigerians. They affirmed that those who work hard deserve the best, so they can rest later in life.

Speaking on the challenges involved in putting up a school of such standard, the administrators disclosed that it's a difficult task putting up a standard school, considering that most standard school facilities are imported. It was disclosed that the stress as well as the cost of purchase and shipping is even enough to frustrate one's dream of having a standard activities centre/ school.  "We have gone through series of challenges while trying to put this together, but at the end of it all, we have reason to thank God," One of the administrators had divulged.

Speaking about her passion and dream for a world -class school, the proprietress said " I have always dreamt of having something very unique, something that is exceptionally outstanding and can stand the test of time. Ever since I was born, I value cleanliness, and that has informed what you see here today. I know we can equally have the best in this country if we all begin to invest in that direction. This is only a tip of the iceberg."

Placing the commercial value and her passion side by side, she said her passion towards creating the best learning environment for kids outweighs the commercial value, hence it's only a dream accomplished.

Speaking on  security and safety of the kids, she assured thus; " Before you got in here, you must have met some security men at the gate. Besides that, we have CCTV that monitors the entire school, which I also monitor in person. It's wireless and connected to my mobile phone. I can monitor the school activities from anywhere. We are also working on how to connect the CCTV to parents mobile phones, so they can also monitor their kids from their homes or offices. She further clarified that details of parents and guardians shall be kept in the school archives in case of pick-ups.

Adding, the school consultant disclosed that different activities in the school can be played back, using the CCTV, asserting that such gadget makes it easy for even parents to have access to information whenever the need arises.

The administrator had disclosed that for the moment, the school will be accommodating children between 3 months to four years.

Its open house for Crèche and Preschool holds tomorrow, October 1st, 2013 at                                      5b Kabo Street, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Garki II, Abuja. Activities begin at 12:00pm.

Broadstreet PR and Event commences partnership project with Nigerian companies (PHOTOS)

At a point that many analysts are of the opinion that Nigerian companies are folding up due to lack of visible plan and near absence of Managerial skills, an American owned company,Broadstreet PR and Event has come to the rescue with the purpose of training and retraining staff in both private and public sectors.

This was made known by its CEO, Andrea Kamara on Saturday at its first Abuja training program held at Krystal Suite, Wuse 2, Abuja for all Krystal suite staff.

The organization, in partnership with Eden Integrated services limited said it was starting its revival effort in the hospitality industry, after having considered the industry as most critical to foreigners who may want to invest in Nigeria. The CEO had affirmed that in a growing economy such as Nigeria's, the hospitality industry plays a major role, hence the need to begin its advance training program from that sector.

While addressing the press on the mission of the organisation into Nigeria, and its extreme importance to Nigerian economy, the Executive Director, Eden Integrated Services Limited , Ambassador Utchay Odims  affirmed that " things are evolving, especially in the 21st century, hence being a graduate is not enough to meet up with the pace at which things are moving. We need to upgrade and live up to the global best practice. This is why this programme appears to be one of the most loudable in recent times. Our partnership in this humanitarian gesture is imperative in order to encourage these foreigners who have embarked on this mission despite the growing security problem that currently confronts our country " Utchay had affirmed.

He further asserted that the aim was to turn around Nigerian companies so they can compete favourably in the international market. He pointed out several ineffective customer services that have over time resulted to poor customer patronage, especially in the hospitality industry, emphasising that after Broadstreet had finished its business tour of Nigeria, there shall be a bigger turn around in the hospitality industry as well as other critical sectors of the economy.

Utchay asserted that the training was not limited to the hospitality industry, but many other organizations that are currently struggling with HR and customer relations issues as well as the day to day running of their business activities. He urged the general public to capitalize on this wonderful humanitarian opportunity to improve on their service delivery.

Responding to questions from journalists, the CEO, Broadstreet PR and event affirmed that  Nigeria was considered first amongst other African countries, having considered its great business potentials. In her words;
"I have a passion for what I do. I'm happy being in Nigeria to help transform the nation's promising and large market. All we are here to do is to close some loopholes that continue to frustrate the nation's economy. We are also here because, Nigeria's market is very critical to the African economy, hence the need to assiduously put things right.
Andre said, "Nigeria to an extent lacks international appeal even with it's human and material potentials. One big issue we have identified to be responsible for some of the challenges was poor customer services. When you travel out of the country, you will find good customer service which is different from what is obtained down here. An improvement in this area as well as effective communication in the various organizational levels will create a better atmosphere for business to thrive. " She said.
Andre said the training will encompass several areas that the Nigerian market and companies have not fully taken advantage of, such as mobile businesses, online booking and a host of others; assuring that at the end of the project, Nigerians will testify. She further disclosed that her company's mission into Africa was purely motivated by the passion to be part of Nigeria's transformation.
Another colleague of Adrea, Stephanie also opined that the Nigerian market needs some improvement for international appeal, so that what is obtained in developed countries can equally be obtained down here.

Speaking further, she said " We must not always think that the best customer service can only be gotten at big companies, as local organizations in Nigeria, especially hotels can equally compete in this regard. Basically, we are here to give out the trainings different organizations need to be able to compete favourably in the global market"

Also speaking, the CEO of Eden Integrated Services Limited, Ambassador David James Egwu, had opined thus " this is a movement, and it has just begun. We are into this partnership because we are all passionate about our dear country Nigeria, and we believe that the quality of services we get at different companies and organizations can be standardised with the introduction of this trainings."
Appealing to journalists, Ambassador Egwu said "the role of the media in this partnership is invaluable," expressing great optimism that the project will get the necessary media support, as both the media and the project were geared towards nation building.
Over 100 staff of Krystal lounge and suit were trained at the Saturday project take off , obviously positioning them with better customer relations techniques.

The training held at the Krystal suit, Wuse 2, Abuja, a gesture most of the staff said came at the right time, especially when most companies are struggling to survive global economic challenges.

Madness: Woman stripped for cutting fellow woman with razor blade (Photos)

This is insanity. This is madness. In short, this is barbarism at the extreme. A woman just inflicted this deep razor cut on her neighbour for just mere misunderstanding, and the barbarism continued as some angry mob, instead of reporting to the police, took the laws into their hands to debase her; stripped her, and watched her struggle with her shame. They dipped their hands into her organ. No particular adjective can accurately qualify this careless and inhumane act.

Now that Something has happened to Tuface Idibia!

He is undoubtedly a phenomenon, and a master of the art. If he was a writer, he would have written our corrupt Politicians to 'hell'.  If he was a 'babalawo' he would have predicted correctly what tomorrow holds for a typical Idoma young-star who continues to remain head strong and dogged, no matter his or her status. If he was a Doctor, his suiting magic fingers would have penetrated through his patience's body and health would be restored. If he was a criminal,  he would have stolen millions of our young women in just one night; if he was Bamanga Tukur, there wouldn't have been crisis in the PDP, as many would have been on his side. If he was a Pastor,  COZA pastor would have worshipped at his feet.

2baba is not only a musician. He is a doctor, a teacher, a prophet, a writer, an orator and a crowd puller. What else does Annie want that is not in this guy? What do the entire Idibia family want that they cannot find in him? What do the Idoma people want that is not in this man? The exhilaration that greets the mind when one listens to the not only melodious and suiting voice, but soul searching 2baba's lyrics is unimaginable. I bow to him. Tuale baba.  But  have one question for him. Now that something has happened; now that you have Annie; wetin again won happen? HBD my brother...

14,300 Lagos drivers are partially blind – LASDRI boss

How will you feel if you discover that majority of bus drivers that take you around in Lagos state are partially blind? What would you do in such situation where you presently have no car of your own? Will you continue to take the risk?

Mr. Ayodeji Oyedokun, is the Chief Executive Officer CEO, Lagos State Drivers’ Institute  LASDRI. He has explained to Vanguard on the activities of the institution for over four years as well as the challenges:  This is what he said about Lagos drivers; “We are all aware of the fact that there are so many drivers with drivers’ license who never had any formal training in driving technology. We are aware of the fact that makes people to rush for driver’s license, which is mainly for an identification document.

“What we are saying in essence, is that there are so many people driving out there that are not supposed to owe drivers license because they did not pass through any formal training. This had led to a lot of carnages on the highway, traffic snarl and jam, with resultant effect of gaseous emission into the atmosphere, which ultimately leads to health hazards, and loss of man hours, because they do not know the rules guiding the use of highway.

*A driver under going an eye test

“In the highway transportation system, there are three main factors that interplay; the human being which is the driver, the environment-road and the vehicle, it is the human factor that is key to the severity or fatality of road crashes. Therefore, it is the human being that needs to be worked on in terms of competence, fitness, mental alertness, level of eye sight, because driving is about seeing and being seen, hence, the government decided to set up LASDRI.”

According to LASDRI boss, before the commencement of operation, various researches were carried out where it showed that 75 percent of auto crashes were due to human errors.

Statistics of trained drivers as well as detected defects by LASDRI Optometrist

•From January to July, 2013, 12,017 drivers were trained and recertified.

•From August 25, 2009 to July, 2013, a total number of 65,000 drivers trained.

•Out of the 65,000 of drivers tested, 22 percent (approximately, 14,300 drivers) were found to be suffering from eye defects, such as myopia and were later referred to ophthalmologists for corrective measure.

•And 99.2 per cent of drivers with eye defects were males, while 1.8 percent were females.

•1.8 per cent of the detected defects were myopic (short sighted) while 12.9 percent were pre-myopic

•3.3 percent long sighted

Adoyi Ali: Why government MUST ban MTN over extreme exploitation

I have not had network on my blackberry for the past 4 days, and I’m contemplating smashing my MTN SIM into pieces. If that happens, I will never regard anybody who uses MTN as a serious person. Nigerians ‘no dey chop’ apologies, hence we do not need more from some alien exploiters. Some people say they are South-Africans, and I doubt their assertion. I doubt because it’s not normal for a citizen to be exploited by a foreigner in his own country, unless if they are backed by some selfish dudes back here or they are some neo-colonialists.

I had thought that the exploitation of MTN, as a network provider in Nigeria had become history with the daunting competition that confronts it due to the emergence of other network providers. I remember vividly few years ago when an MTN SIM could go for more than forty thousand naira in this very country. Nigerians were then made to believe that the cost of production and importation of MTN SIM was responsible for its high cost; but the moment other network providers stormed the country, importation and production cost became minor issues. At least, they could forego such huge exploitation of the masses, because it was going to force them out of the market.

Nigeria is considered to be one of the biggest markets for MTN in sub-Sahara Africa, and had no doubt suffered extreme exploitation in the hands of the Mobile Tele-communication network as it rightly calls itself.  No single soul, even a child of yesterday is oblivious of this crime against Nigerians, yet our consumptions rights remain unprotected by the concerned protection agencies.  Even though the exploitation of MTN has gotten to our throats, we all grumble and scuffle with the network; we simply can’t write an open petition to the government concerning this unfortunate network that has ripped-off our economy, after all, the government’s hands are tied regarding taking action due to some individual’s interest.

Despite the poor network, the extra charges based on some deceptive caller tunes, compelling subscription to news, fake promos on ‘’call more to get extra recharges’’ that never come, blackberry network that remains droopy, fake data bundles that finish before insertion of SIM to Data-stick, vanishing of credits, wrong information on network connection leading to serious domestic squabbles and a host of other maddening and high standard frauds, we have continued to patronize MTN and its continuous manipulative tendency.  We can’t even talk about millions who have lost their monies to MTN after having purchased recharged cards that were never loaded. In such mischievous circumstance, the customer care lines are only useful to them via their automated advert response. You have to wait endlessly for the next available agents that will never attend to you. Rubbish- impudence!

Are we so naive that we can’t see this extreme exploitation? Tell me now if you have had network on your blackberry for the past five or four days? I know that almost everybody around me is going through the same experience and I have no doubt that by the end of this week of no BB network, they will apologize to all MTN BB subscribers without compensation. They have done it several times. EMPTY N, is that why you are here?

What is the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) as well as the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) doing to cut down the excesses of MTN and other networks with the same exploitative tendencies? NCC had at a point stopped all forms of promos that lure customers into loses, but it only lasted for few weeks. We are back to another phase of deception and manipulation. Read your messages, I mean those exasperating messages, asking you to subscribe to ‘this’ to get ‘that’, and because of our mentality, we all ask no further questions but to subscribe, only to cry foul at last.  How will they explain why an individual who managed to purchase 200 naira recharge card, is later left with nothing to use even when he or she had not called a single person? Who took the loaded credit? MTN needs to explain this.

It’s only in Nigeria that a mobile network provider like MTN can boldly dupe a customer and defend their act via one lousy voice at the customer service unit with some incoherent and illogical reasons; obviously, brothers have been trained to dupe their own brothers. A caller tune that is to be paid for once in a month is mostly paid for five times in a month. Haven’t you experienced same? You sit there doing nothing. What is even the use subscribing to a data bundle and BIS you can’t use for even a week?

My demand as well as the rest of other MTN users is simple and straight. If the government can no longer regulate the activities of the mobile company, they should send them away, as their presence in a liberal economy like ours, will continue to rip-off the ordinary man who has no knowledge about the gimmicks of the mobile company.

Granted, MTN must make profits, but there should be a clear distinction between profit and exploitation. As I write this piece, some group of young Nigerians are blaming our so called artistes who keep blowing selfish trumpets for this exploiter. Wizkid, Iyanya, KC Presh and a host of other sycophantic artistes should note this. You are showering accolades on a company that is exploiting your people because you have been paid some meagre sum. Do you know how much the exploiter is supposed to pay you for giving them the same voice the ordinary Nigerian has brought out of you? They made you, so the need for you to align with them. There are certain things we don’t do, because we value our fans. Your fans all over the country are crying over exploitation you and I are supposed to fight, yet you are kneeling and worshipping MTN. How much is that?   Nigerian youth have sworn to make you all sink with MTN in this campaign. This is a clarion call to all Nigerian youth to sign against MTN and its exploitation. Sign against any artist who endorses MTN. Why endorsing what is not good? Your endorsement is highly deceptive.  Enough is enough.

Ambassador Egwu of the Eden Integrated had told me that the only option is for all youth to sign below this article as we all share the same views. In this case, we are all asked to join in distributing this article until it gets to MTN, and relevant authorities. This article is written on behalf of other million MTN users who are grumbling in pain. They are now been subjected to oppression in their country by some foreign dudes. What the heck is that???  If you agree with me, sign your name under this article and continue sharing. If one million of us sign this article in unison, the government will understand where we currently stand. We must remain fearless, and ask questions as this is our OWN country. We must not be carried away by some internal political wrangling while we face some dwindling economy created by some imperialists. These are some comprador bourgeois ready to kill for money and the earlier we stopped their mission the better for us. Enough is enough.

US woman worries over her last name, Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele to get into the US Drivers License

Culled from global news;
A U.S. woman’s last name is so long that she can’t get a driver’s license with her correct name. Janice “Lokelani” Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele is fighting to make it happen.
The documents only have room for 35 characters, so Hawaii County instead issued her driver’s license and her state ID with the last letter of her name chopped off. And it omitted her first name.
The 54-year-old wrote her mayor and city councilwoman for help, but the county said the state of Hawaii computer system they used wouldn’t allow names longer than 35 characters.
Her name has 35 letters plus a mark used in the Hawaiian alphabet, called an okina.
Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele got the name when she married her Hawaiian husband in 1992. He used only the one name, which his grandfather gave him. The name came to his grandfather in a dream that also told him he would have a grandson.

Her husband died in 2008, but he had similar problems when he was alive, she told The Associated Press.
The name has layers of meanings. One, she said, is “When there is chaos and confusion, you are one that will stand up and get people to focus in one direction and come out of the chaos.” It also references the origins of her and her husband’s family.
Keihanaikukauakahihuliheekahaunaele was compelled to bring attention to the issue after a policeman last month gave her a hard time about her driver’s license when he pulled her over for a traffic stop.
“I said wait a minute, this is not my fault. This is the county’s fault that I don’t have an ID that has my name correctly,” she said.
Caroline Sluyter, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman, said Thursday the state is working to increase space for names on driver’s licenses and ID cards. By the end of the year, the cards will 40 characters for first and last names and 35 characters for middle names, she said.

Abuja Young Ladies Turn Drivers, Power-Bikers, Ushers and Bouncers.(See photos)

The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja is considered one of the fastest growing cities in the world. This statement has always been justified through the various innovations the city continues to witness even with the influx of different people into the capital city.

Most girls in the FCT are either engaged in Sugar daddy business, executive prostitution or ‘One Chance’. This, our reporter said was one of the reasons the FCT administration now uses the Military to harass young girls at clubs and on the streets of the capital city. Those who dress transparently or half-naked are often used as scapegoats.

However, the trend is changing as some journalists recently ran into some group of young girls who now call themselves protocol 101. These young girls have decided to change the trend, and to use their beauty to add colour to the city that is now considered one of the biggest in the world.

The young ladies who were seen in numbers and beautifully dressed were at various events, adding colour, class, grandeur and 'swag' to those events.

Recently at various weddings and major events in Abuja, they were been used as pickups and for personal show-off. They chauffeur VIPs to events, keep them entertained and run various services for such VIPs; who knows what happens in the dark?  It is an all female logistic/service group of young, beautiful ladies, consisting of Drivers, power-bikers, Bouncers, Protocols and Ushers.

This is what one of them said," So much Millions is spent on the stylish looks of couples during weddings as well as the "interior" decorations of Event Venues, leaving out an equally important component of a successful event, the "exterior". Your movement in and out of an event should be as celebrated as the other components. We are set to bridge the gap. We are bridge builders. We celebrate the "Exterior/Logistics" of every event. Your "memorable day" is not complete without us."

We were told that one Nicky Nwadinobi is in charge.

Nigerian youth storm Niger state to solicit for peace

Ronnie Dim, Coordinator, CYIPD

A Nigerian youth group, Concerned Youth Initiative for Peace and Development (CYIPD), under the leadership of actress Ronnie Dim is again taking its peace campaign initiative to Niger state tomorrow. The campaign which is scheduled to take-off as from tomorrow in Minna, the Niger state capital, is aimed at sensitizing the entire Minna youth on the need to remain peaceful, despite the ongoing political crisis in the country. The campaign is aimed at appealing to the conscience of Niger state youth to remain dogged, focused and dedicated to their roles as indigenes of the state.

Recall that the youth group embarked on a recent campaign to Rivers and Lagos states with massive turnout of youth. It had earlier scheduled another campaign for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, but was put off due to some security challenges. The group coordinator, Ronnie Dim, had however divulged that it is still possible to hold the same campaign in Abuja as plans were underway towards getting that done.

In a statement issued by Ronnie Dim on behalf of the group today in Abuja, it was disclosed that the group will converge in Minna tomorrow, September 12, 2013 to address youth of the state on the need to maintain the existing peace in the state and shun all forms of political distraction. The statement said the campaign was also aimed at strengthening the youth on the need to be self reliant and be dedicated to the service of the state. The campaign will call on the state governor to make relentless effort with some of his colleagues towards resolving the lingering crisis in the polity.

The statement said ‘’ we want the Youth of Niger state to understand that the present peace being experienced in the state should be maintained even after the present Police Commissioner of the state who has done so well leaves office. We will tell them to maintain the status quo of peace in Niger state. The serenity I witnessed when I went on a youth inspection of the state should remain. It is high time the youth of Niger state began to think differently, at least for the benefit of the state and the entire nation.   We will be addressing the governor too, based on our agenda, that it’s not enough to seek the support of the youth regarding peace, but it’s equally right to have them empowered, encouraged and rehabilitated. If a youth is been told today to stop carrying arms, or indulging in all sorts of crime, there should be an alternative to what he is used to. That is the essence of our campaign in Niger state as from tomorrow. We have had similar campaigns in few other states including Lagos, and I tell you, we recorded tremendous turnout. It’s high time we got into positive campaigns, instead of those ones wrapped with impunity. We are the leaders and the future of our tomorrow. Enough of these crimes and violence! We are going to Niger state, not because there is violence in the state, we are going there to encourage the youth to keep up the good work, and to also encourage the governor, the Chief Servant, Babangida Aliu not to relent, and to make youth empowerment a priority.

Stressing on the campaign objective and the power of the Nigerian youth, Actress Ronnie Dim said that as the peace walk continues from state to states, they may be requesting individual governors to take them on inspection of state projects, especially those that affect the Nigerian youth. She said such shall be used to measure government performance in order to enable the group mobilize for such governor in the next election. She also avowed that the group will monitor all voting activities across the 36 states of the federation.

Speaking on funding, the youth leader asserted that the organization had no particular sponsors, as they were careful not to go into sponsorship that will lead the organization into being hijacked. She said however, that it will be fine if well meaning Nigerians sponsor the selfless job the organization is doing in the interest of peace, but must however not capitalize on such sponsorship to hijack the mission with which the organization was formed.; ‘’ no, we won’t accept that; such is totally unacceptable’’ she had reiterated.

Speaking on the takeoff of the project, Ronnie said that the youth organization was endorsed by the entire Nigerian youth at a press conference in Abuja, and since then, there has been no dull moment.

Commending the Lagos walk, she said it was the most peaceful walk ever held in the country, considering the turnout, without any incident of violence. Ronnie hopes that the long awaited change can only be attained if this kind of campaign is continuously encouraged and sustained amongst the youth.

Ronnie concluded by assuring Nigerians that at the end of the peace walk in Niger state, the Governor, who is known as the Chief servant will be advised to call his colleagues and other leaders of the country together for the interest of peace. Adding that ‘’ this will further justify his stewardship as the chief servant of the state.

PechaKucha Nights began in Tokyo, 10 years ago as a forum for architects and designers to share their work; since then, it has grown virally and spread from city to city. Global Night is the fourth annual celebration of that growth, where creative entrepreneurs, thinkers and leaders come together as one international community.

PechaKucha Nights are community events where creative individuals of all disciplines go to inspire and get inspired in a fast-paced way. The presentations have only one rule: 20 slides, 20 seconds per slide. Presentations run automatically, and the challenge for speakers is to tell their stories in perfect sync with their visuals—and briefly. Because people talk too long and are scared of editing things down, putting the presentations on auto-forward helps people clear their heads, focus, and say things succinctly.

PechaKucha (pronounced pe-CHA-ku-CHA) is a Japanese expression, meaning chatter or chit-chat, which speaks to the informal and casual nature of these events. PechaKucha Nights are held in nightclubs, bars, performance spaces, outdoor venues, and even—in the case of Tel Aviv, where 4,000 people attend two consecutive shows—airplane hangars. While each city brings its own individual flavor to the evening, the pattern is the same, with eight to 10 speakers presenting on various topics but in the same format.

Over 100 cities have signed up to participate in Global Night and Abuja is fortunate to be involved as the only city in Nigeria. The theme of Global Night is “HIDDEN HEROES” giving PechaKucha Nights and their presenters the opportunity to showcase people who are outstanding in communities around the world. The idea behind this is to encourage entrepreneurs, policy influencers and professionals to define their essence, understand the most important aspects of their existence and communicate that effectively. Confirmed speakers include; Dr Dele Momodu (Ovation Magazine), Mrs. Dayo Laniyi-Benjamin (DOXA), Mr. Chris Oputa (Studio 24), Mr. Audu Maikori (Chocolate City), Ms. Hanna Kabir (YOUWIN awardee - Creed Energy) and Mrs. Zainab Jaji (Alteq ICT).TThis global event will take place September 20,2013 at Sheraton, Abuja Time: 5pm.

After the event, recorded “hidden heroes” presentations will be shared on a channel on the event’s official website, www.pechakucha.org. This will bring creative people from all over the world together, celebrating other people in one huge global wave.

“We think it will be a night to remember” says Yemisi Adegbite, the Pecha Kucha Night Abuja Convener; “The Pecha Kucha Global Night will also be streamed live via Google Hangouts”

BBA: Dillish's acclaimed father narrates events leading to her birth

A man has resurfaced from nowhere, claiming to be the biological father of Dillish Matthews, the winner of the just concluded Big Brother Africa.

Abdi Galgalo Guyo, a retired Army Officer disclosed that he met Selma, Dillish’s mother, in 1989 in Namibia while he was on a peacekeeping mission.

“We had been deployed for a peace keeping mission in Namibia when I met a girl and fell in love with her,” Galgalo said. He claimed he was 20 and Selma was about 18 when they both met.

He disclosed that after having spent one year in Namibia, he returned home and could only communicate with Dillish’s mum via letters “We sent each other letters through my colleagues,” he explained.

Disclosing further, Galgalo, a Borana from Moyale, said Selma was about 8 months pregnant when he left Namibia. He said that communication between the two of them stopped after the peace mission had ended. Earlier, Dillish had denied the allegation, but the matter became serious when the ex-soldier contacted her mother via skype in The Standard Group offices and Galgalo was invited for Dillish’s birthday to be held on September 16.

While communicating with Galgalo from the office of the Kenyan Ambassador to Namibia, Selma had told him to bring the photographs of his five other children during the birthday celebration for a confirmation of his claims. He expressed joy for the invitation.

Galgalo  has confirmed his attendance and promised to give his daughter a Kenyan name at the course of the celebration.
